Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Bad Graphics…

ポケモン!

Why isn’t Pokemon able to leave the weak graphics behind in Gen 8 and deliver something better in Scarlet and Violet?

In this video we go over it to kick off the launch month of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet!

I recall most of the time when we see high quality details in Pokémon game it’s usually in their Spin offs such as Mystery dungeon explorers of sky

I really dont understand why they cant make a game, followed by 2 years of DLC and a minor game after before a new region. This way they could make huge games over the span of 3 years (counting the dlcs) and have all the pokemon in a single game (counting all the dlcs ofc) and with the dlc adding more to the story they could have more mons for the TCG and more stuff to explore in the anime. Having a smaller game like BDSP developed by a 3rd party like ILCA would be cool too, either reimagine an older game or remake like BDSP (hell, they could have a BDSP style XY with another region if they wanted, like re exploring GALAR)

You can tell GameFreak prioritized the quality of the models and their texture work over the landscapes for Scarlet and Violet. GameFreak needs hire more artists. Hopefully GameFreak learned from Sword/Shield’s atrociously laggy online experience outside of battles and have the engineers and programmers to ensure a smooth experience even when online. Co-op overworld exploration looks to be a selling point and I’d hate to see it compromised over poor performance.

Honestly i couldn’t care less about the graphics as long as the game itself delivers. Sword and shield were bad at literally everything that makes a game a game. Scarlet and violet look like games that had thought and love put into them which makes them incomparable to Sword and shield

I think I could overlook the “outdated” environment aesthetic if the actual Pokémon models were updated past the banked 3ds model rigs. It’s not organic seeing blocky bulbasaur, or flat wooper.

I do think that Gamefreak needs to swallow some pride and give in to a bigger graphic team to work on their mainline games. Regardless of what the company feels about it, sometimes you need help in making a bigger leap to your mainline money source. Honestly, why have any shareholders spoken out about the bad graphics in these mainline Pokémon games ? Money or not sometimes it’s not worth it if you’re not up to the higher standard of graphics and gameplay. 🎃

i dont know why people in the comments are acting like its Gameplay OR Graphics. No. Gameplay comes first, sure, and pokemon is super fun, but good Graphics dont take anything away from it. Pokemon is a huge franchise it should atleast be on par with other switch games visually

I will say this: you also have to think of Pokemon for the anime perspective of how it’s designed. I mean look at Tales of Vesperia. The only changes done to Definitive was adding back in PS3 exclusive scenes and characters while using updated character models. If we can take the Tales games at that value and love them, why not Pokemon?

Someone’s clearly at fault here, it’s either GameFreak’s incompetence or the Pokémon Company is skimping out on a workable budget for GameFreak to work with. I honestly think it’s the latter, I can’t see GameFreak being at the wrong here.

when we know there are games environment like Breath of the wild and Xenoblade on switch, they really do make Pokemon environments look very lackluster

Other than the texture work being somewhat low res and having a rather plain appearance on stony and grassy surfaces the games graphics are decent otherwise.

I don’t care about the graphics but that’s just me. Just care about new moves, mechanics and the pokemon themselves. I just wish they went back to a more detailed pre made main character like before. ( I preferred if they focused on animations too instead of graphics)

I can’t believe people like you are complaining about the game’s graphic’s when what really matter’s is how fun the game is. The pokemon Franchise was never about their graphics but about the adventure and countless pokemon to catch. I rather take a good adventure over any good graphics any day.

I don’t really mind “bad” graphics as long as it a good game, some people complained about sword and shield or pl:a but pl:a is my favorite Pokémon game to date. Although I agree the animations feel dead in most games the gameplay is what keeps me going

Eh I don’t care about graphics, most of the time they just make the console versions feel worst for such little

Careful dude, Joe Merrick’s gonna “correct” the hell out of you. Lol.

Anyway, totally agree Game Freak needs to be given more development time. Pokémon games could be masterpieces if only they weren’t being made in such a rush.
